The Verbarius clock dispenses with formalities by offering a totally new method of telling the instance – in fact, it is rather inexact in some ways. After all, it will spell out the current day in just about any language that you load onto it, including Pig Latin as you can see above. It will spell out duration differently every minute, ranging from midnight to forty-five minutes past four – you get the picture. It will run when connected to a main capability supply source, but good thing it comes with a backup battery just in case you experience a brownout. Expect to fork out around $220 for that puppy.

It seems that advancements are being made to ensure that our health in the future can be monitored round the clock, and the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany is one of the leading think tanks concerning such technology, coming up with projects such as senSAVE and the Personal health assistant. They will target older folks who might want to catch ailments and other bodily breakdowns earlier before the next monthly health checkup, and could very well catch on worldwide considering the ever rising costs of healthcare.

Here’s a mixture of the old and the new – the Bulbdial clock that features an analog-style face sans hands. How do you tell the date thereupon? Well, it features a “gnomon” which sticks up in the middle, while a trio of rings of inward-pointing LEDs are located around the rim, where each of them boasts of a different color and at a different angle relative to the face. The blue ring is located at the shallowest angle, where it will cast the longest shadow representing the “seconds” hand. As for the red ring, it is located at the steepest angle, casting the shortest shadow to represent the current hour. As for the middle green ring, it will let you know of the current minute. Trippin’!

Sky in the UK will be offering free broadband with speeds hitting 20Mbps, thanks to its free Sky Everyday Lite package. In order to qualify for that mouth watering package, all you need to do is be a Sky TV subscriber as well as sign up for the Sky Talk phone service at the same duration, although the free 20Mbps broadband service has a monthly download cap of 2GB. No big deal whether you are a regular web surfer, but for those who stream videos and audio round the clock will probably give that a pass. Expect the Sky Everyday Lite package to roll out that June 1st.

High end video cards more often than not require solid cooling potential in order for them not to overheat, and the Club 3D ATI Radeon HD5550 Noiseless Edition takes a different route by being passively cooled, thanks to a really huge heat sink as well as dual heat pipes used for cooling. It plus sports 512MB RAM, a 550MHz clock and 128-bit memory bandwidth, capable of supporting up to 2,560 x 1,600 resolution. It takes the route of a two-slot design thanks to its super huge heat sink.

The Heart Rate Detecting Bra from Numetrex is certainly an interesting piece of underwear to own, particularly whether you tend to keep track of your body’s statistics round the clock. Electrodes within the bra will detect your heart rate, where it will thereupon send relevant details to a watch which you wear on your wrist. Needless to say, that is a sports bra which is comfortable to wear, doubling up as a discreet heart rate monitor at the same moment thanks to flexible heart sensing fibers knitted directly into the fabric of the garment.

The Mertz active vision head robot is pretty creepy when you think about it, as it does remind us of I, Robot in many ways. The brainchild of Lijin Aryananda and Jeff Weber at the MIT Media Lab, Mertz was built to recognize and react to faces and expressions, aiming to research socially situated learning which is similar to an infant’s learning process. It is hoped that when placed around public and absorbing knowledge round the clock, it would be able to “learn” dynamically so to speak, recognize specific individuals and even repeat common words or phrases. Mertz is equipped with 13 degrees of freedom, individually actuated eyebrows and lips (hopefully he can pull the many faces of The Rock of WWE fame) and a microphone. Interesting project, don’t you thyink so?
