Looks like the Nokia N900 is now able to handle Google Chrome, aka Chromium, although that is not an official port by Google so proceed with caution. that version is based on Debian 32-bit release, and those who have given it a go did not really run into major problems, as it features a pretty smooth operation with Flash composition support. Despite the efforts of Jacekowski, that port still comes with its fair share of minor bugs, but soon after again that is to be expected. Want to know more about the beast known as the Nokia N900? Now here’s something rather cool. Google’s Chromium OS isn’t final yet, but folks are already trying to install it on various devices, and that moment it’s the Archos 9 tablet. The OS doesn’t even have a touchscreen keyboard for you to use yet, though you can get around that by plugging in a USB keyboard (and mouse) of course. When Chromium OS is finally released as a finished product, would you rather use it instead of the limited Windows 7 Starter edition?

Those who downloaded the previous build of Hexxeh’s Diet Chromium OS might be dismayed to find out that the wireless chipset on your machine was not supported, but thankfully the latest build, known as Cherry, will come with support for RALink and Broadcom wireless adapters. that will certainly broaden its horizons as it currently already supports Intel and Atheros adapters, which means Diet Chromium ought to be able to run on just about any netbook without gimping it in any way.

It looks like Google’s Chrome OS might be getting some nice backing from Dell, as the company has confirmed that it’s maknig an experimental version of the Chromium OS for its Mini Inspiron 10v netbook. The OS is available as a USB key image file, but folks who try it are warmed that it should be used with assume risk, as it has only gone through minimal analyzing. Some of the current problems include lengthy (up to 10 minutes) before the network connection manager can find wireless networks, but that’s to be expected during that early checking phase. The 8GB image can be transferred to a USB drive only by using a Linux system.
