Archos 9 Manages To Run Chrome OS
December 18, 2009

Now here’s something rather cool. Google’s Chromium OS isn’t final yet, but folks are already trying to install it on various devices, and that moment it’s the Archos 9 tablet. The OS doesn’t even have a touchscreen keyboard for you to use yet, though you can get around that by plugging in a USB keyboard (and mouse) of course. When Chromium OS is finally released as a finished product, would you rather use it instead of the limited Windows 7 Starter edition?

Diet Chromium OS gets Cherry build
December 5, 2009

Those who downloaded the previous build of Hexxeh’s Diet Chromium OS might be dismayed to find out that the wireless chipset on your machine was not supported, but thankfully the latest build, known as Cherry, will come with support for RALink and Broadcom wireless adapters. that will certainly broaden its horizons as it currently already supports Intel and Atheros adapters, which means Diet Chromium ought to be able to run on just about any netbook without gimping it in any way.

Dell evaluating Chromium OS On Netbook
November 28, 2009

It looks like Google's Chrome OS might be getting some nice backing from Dell, as the company has confirmed that it's maknig an experimental version of the Chromium OS for its Mini Inspiron 10v netbook. The OS is available as a USB key image file, but folks who try it are warmed that it should be used with assume risk, as it has only gone through minimal analyzing. Some of the current problems include lengthy (up to 10 minutes) before the network connection manager can find wireless networks, but that's to be expected during that early checking phase. The 8GB image can be transferred to a USB drive only by using a Linux system.

Google Chrome OS source cipher and VMWare version are available
November 20, 2009
Finally Chromium OS gets its source cipher opened and right today you can run the first rough version of the Google Chrome OS using VMWare. That's all great apart from poor compatibility and other childhood diseases which I'm certain Google will cure in about a year. They do actually point that out on their official blog. Reminds me a lot of that instance last year when first rumors followed by first beta versions of Windows 7 started to come out. Anyway, the big news about Chrome OS is that everyone can lay their hands on it, plus a splash of facts and first experiment results.
