10-pack Of iPads Available For Educational Institutions
March 21, 2010

Nintendo isn’t the only one who wants its devices in schools, as Apple has begun promoting its 10-pack iPad bundles for educational institutions. When purchased in a pack, the price of the iPad is lowered by $20 per iPad, or $40 per iPad whether purchased together with AppleCare. There are plus some environmental benefits of purchasing a pack of ten iPads, as the packaging is reduced by eliminating separate retail boxing for the devices. Each package will consist of ten iPads, along with the USB-to-Dock connector cables, capability adapters, and a one set of documentation. Will the iPad be a useful education tool, or do you think that the MacBook is still more suitable?

iMo Plus USB monitor back with larger display
March 19, 2010

Secondary USB LCD displays have been around for some moment already, and while they are nice to have on your desktop, they aren't an fundamental tooljust yet. The iMo Plus might yet change your mind, being a 10" USB LCD monitor at 1,024 x 576 resolution complete with resistive touchscreen capability. Features include a 200cd/m2 brightness level and a 400:1 contrast ratio which are nothing to shout about normally, but it fits such a small display just fine. We would have preferred to see a capacitive touchscreen thrown in instead though due to the lesser amount of finger pressure needed. You can pick up the iMo Plus for $270, while a touchscreen-less version will cost $220.

Windows notebook to get Mac-like scrolling and gestures
March 18, 2010
TouchPad Gesture: ChiralScroll™ for vertical scrolling from Synaptics, Inc. on Vimeo.
Even whether you are a die-hard Windows fan, chances are pretty good that once you have had a go at the two-finger scrolls and three-finger gestures on a MacBook, the vanilla Windows trackpad does seem pretty much like a dead fish. Well, here's an interesting hack that could give your Windows notebook similar scrolling and gestures, although we say why go through all that trouble when you can just get an actual MacBook yourself? that mod won't offer pinch-to-zoom or rotation capability, but nearly everything else will be made accessible including two-finger scrolling, gestures and three fingers compatiblity among others.
