Hmmm, to see the words “USB” and “SSD” certainly seems strange, what more when they are merged together to anatomy what looks like a USB flash drive. Going by the nigh unpronounceable moniker, the Buffalo SHD-LVS-BK USB SSD, it will be powered via a USB 2.0 connection, holding 64GB of info while measuring a diminutive 23mm x 10mm x 98 mm. Nice to know that Buffalo has thrown in a physical switch that helps prevent unwanted or accidental deletion of old files as well as stopping new files from being written onto the drive. You will additionally find TurboPC and TurboCopy functions that are supposed to boost transfer rates, but the jury is still out there on the verdict. Depending on your bank detail, you can choose from 3GB, 8GB, 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities which will retail for $28, $45, $77, $135 and $260, respectively.

Folks who are looking for a SSD drive to put into their older notebook don’t have to distress about the lack of a SATA connector on the notebook, as Buffalo has come up with its SHD-NHPU2 PATA SSD. Since it uses the older PATA connector, instead of the current SATA connector, you shouldn’t have any issue using it on your older notebook. These 2.5-inch SSDs offer 64MB of cache and transfer speeds up to 101.3MB/s. that drive will be available in Japan at the end of the month and pricing should be $250 (32GB), $360 (64GB) and $630 (128GB), respectively.

Over in Japan, Buffalo has announced a new series of solid state disks (SSD), the SHD-NSU2, which offers capacities of 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB, and will set you back $160, $230, $440, and $840 respectively. These drives will offer 64MB of DRAM cache, and offers read speeds up to 175MB/s, though surprisingly there isn’t any knowledge of write speeds. We certainly don’t mind more SSDs in the market; after all, competition is healthy. These SSDs will be available in Japan in April, and might even be available outside of Japan (fingers crossed).

Buffalo seems to have employed a descendant of King Midas who inherited his capability to turn everything he touches into gold, thanks to the latest high gloss gold MiniStation Lite portable hard drive. Coming in capacities of up to 500GB (with other colors like black, red, white, blue and pink coming in 250GB, 320GB, 500GB and 640GB capacities), it hooks up to your computer via USB. No view on pricing, but it does add something different to an otherwise dreary desktop.

At first glance, that looks like an old school NES game pad, but upon closer inspection, you won’t find any Nintendo logo on that, but the word Buffalo emblazoned on the top right hand corner of the device instead. While the world has already moved on to USB 3.0, the Buffalo USB Nintendo PC Game Pad still remains in the past with a USB 1.1 connection, but that shouldn’t matter since all you’re going to do is mash buttons like there is no tomorrow. Perfect for shoot ‘em ups, it boasts a classic Turbo button for well rested thumbs as you cut a path of destruction with your aeroplane. Would you fork out $22 for a piece of retro memory?

Want to go green with your home appliances? You can’t really go wrong with the Buffalo WZR-HP-G301NH Series router soon after, as it offers a new capability management system which consumes up to 69% less juice compared to its predecessor. For a device that is meant to be left on the entire day, that is a pretty huge amount of savings, come to think of it. We don’t have word of its pricing though.
