The Tagwhat service will take social networking capabilities of an Android-powered smartphone to wrap it up into an augmented reality browser. that would end up with you enjoying a network of location tags which can be shared among friends, letting them know where you are heading to, alongside your two cents when it comes to restaurants and bars in the area apart from keeping up with the latest deals or specials. The whole network of digital tags “aims to place users right inside their own personalized global canvas where they can discover, explore and share what matters with friends and followers.” A more hyped up version of FourSquare, perhaps?

LG launches its Mini (model number GD880) web orientated mobile phone that April in Europe followed by other regions of the world. LG states no price as it will vary according to every specific region. The most interesting thing yet about the GD880 Mini is its Phantom Browser with HTML5 support. Since web orientation is a key feature of LG Mini, they made it a full touchscreen with 3.2-inch display and no physical keyboard. As the official press release says, they tried to keep things as simple as possible, so they like to shout it a mobile phone with smartphone-like features. Design is therefore plus simple and is March’s whether product design award holder. The bottom line for LG Mini is: HTML5 web experience for all popular web services and web apps, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, A-GPS, fresh design plus 5 megapixel camera. Probably won’t cost too much.

Google’s Chrome is certainly a very capable browser, but Google isn’t composition to sit back and let you discover its features by yourself. The search engine giant has released two rather pleasant videos showcasing two useful features: Extensions and the Translate extension. Extensions is a simple way to add on features to your Chrome browser, similar to Firefox’s Add On feature. We’re going to let the videos do the talking in the full post. So sit back and enjoy.

True blue multitasking for the iPad might not reach until iPhone OS 4 rolls out that autumn, but it seems that a couple of new apps have arisen on iTunes that offers a glimpse into the future – we’re talking about a browser which is capable of running a separate in-screen window for web apps such as Twitter, Facebook and other chat clients, letting you do so while surfing the Web. The two apps are Multitasking for iPad and Multitasking browser, where the former allows you to only run Twitter and Facebook streams in the background, while the latter has a maximum of three windows being in view simultaneously, capable of running more than 20 web apps at once.

BlackBerry owners who have been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the Skyfire browser for the BlackBerry OS are in for some poor news. In a blog post, Skyfire’s CEO, Jeff Glueck, has announced that the company is planning to put development of the BlackBerry version of its popular browser on hold in order to focus on development for Google’s Android. Reasons given included a poor developer environment as well as inconsistent and fragmented APIs. He did promise that they would return to development whether BlackBerry OS 6.0 delivers on its promise to bring assured improvements from a developer’s perspective. That being said, it’s worth taking note that OS 6.0 will certainly include the release of RIM’s WebKit-based browser, which will offer Skyfire some healthy competition.

It was previously rumored that Adobe and Google would be partnering to integrate Flash with Google’s Chrome browser, and now it looks like the deal is official, with both Adobe and Google spreading the word. The plan is to take the relationship to the next level by supporting a deeper integration of Flash Player with Google’s Chrome browser. With that in mind, Google will be including Flash Player in its Chrome browser so users will always have the most current release, which hopefully leads to a safer and more enjoyable experience. Are you happy about that development, or are you more supportive of HTML5?

Apple and Adobe certainly aren’t seeing eye to eye recently by Flash, particularly with the iPad not including Flash support, but could Adobe be getting a valuable ally in the anatomy of the search engine giant Google? that hasn’t been officially confirmed just yet, but speculation is mounting that Google might be bundling Adobe’s Flash with Google’s Chrome browser or Chrome OS. Of course, Google’s Chrome already supports Adobe, but whether the browser were to bundle Flash together, Adobe would certainly have a lot more ability to fend off HTML5, which is certainly a threat to Flash at the moment. Do you think that such a deal will materialize, or will it just fade into oblivion?
