Automated solvers for the Rubik’s cube isn’t new any more, but that instance round David Gilday entertains the masses with his version that relies on LEGO Mindstorm parts. A computer will be the brain behind the solution, but it can solve more than just a restricted type of cube as lengthy as the physical dimensions remain within 5cm and 6cm on a side, solving 2, 3, 4, and 5 piece cubes. David has additionally come up with a separate machine that is capable of handling 6 x 6 x 6 cubes, too. Who says being square isn’t cool?

The Japanese are at the forefront of cutting edge technology most of the instance, and we do have word that they are working on a new project that involves mind control of consumer home products including air conditioners, where sensors will be able to tell from the body temperature in a room and build the appropriate adjustments to the temperature. Guess whether you start to feel as though you were about to freeze your family jewels off, your brain will inform the home system to increase the temperature, since pressing the button on the air conditioner’s remote control up by a few notches would be too much work, eh?

We all know just how much heat a hard drive can generate while it is in operation, and Alan decided to do something about the situation by designing a method to handle the heat efficiently. that was made possible by using a microcontroller as the brain alongside an LM35 temperature sensor, where the fan speed can be varied in 8 steps depending on the current temperature with a working range of 35 Celsius to 45 Celsius. We say work in an air conditioned room whether possible, but otherwise, a regular external hard drive shouldn’t be hot adequate to burn you with a touch, aye? He gets additional points for effort though.

Instead of juicing up your brain by working it, the Cube Magic you see here will work differently by charging up your gizmos, since that is a battery charger that functions on electromagnetic induction principles – all you need to do is play with the cube whenever you feel like exercising your brain, harness the energy generated and let its innards do the hard work of converting it into usable capability to juice up the rest of your hooked up gadgets! Too poor that concept doesn’t sound too practical, as we wonder just how many times you must solve it before there is suitable ability stored within to keep an iPod going for a few minutes’ worth of video playback.

Looks like researchers just want to delve deeper and deeper into our minds, as the folks by at Hitachi and Hitachi Kokusai Denki Engineering have unveiled their new wearable brain analyzer. While it looks rather chunky, it can be used to assist scientists at research institutes and help companies develop their marketing strategies. It’s lightweight and easy to assemble, not to mention that it offers a built-in battery and can be controlled via Wi-Fi. The company is looking to release that product sometime that year for 10 million Yen ($107,147). Are you worried that your boss might force you to wear one of these in the future, just to manufacture certain you’re thinking about work during office hours? Scary.

We’re all lazy, and whether we could have it our way, we’d just sit back and finish all our computer work with our arms folded. While that’s far from the reality today, Intel might be trying to help us achieve just that, as the chip giant is working on mental telepathy methods for man-to-machine communications in conjunction with Carnegie Mellon. Basically what they’re trying to do is come up with an interface that can map your brain’s electrical neuron activity, and decode those signals with the help of fancy algorithms. You’d have to wear some sort of headgear, which would detect and translate these signals which will be transmitted to another machine. Are we moving closer to ditching the keyboard and mouse? It’s probably a tiny step forward, but a step that is certainly welcomed.

Would you considering coming up with one of these as a weekend project?

Check out that rather interesting DIY project that sees an amalgamation of video and sound in the mold of an audible mask. Tara Pattenden, the brain behind that view known as the Pianowl. that interactive mask will feature teeth that can be pulled out as well as wings which create sound whenever they flap. Soft piano keys have been integrated into the Pianowl, which uses a kitchen sponge and some conductive thread. Looks creepy to us, and whether it could play the Twilight Zone tune, that’d be really something. Only those with musical inclinations need apply.

Researchers from Down Under at Bionic Vision Australia (BVA) managed to come up with a prototype version of a bionic eye implant which could potentially revolutionize the world of blind public since that eye has the potential to restore rudimentary vision – although the earliest that would happen would be 2013. that system will include a pair of glasses with an integrated camera, a processor which is small abundant to fit in your pocket, and an ocular implant that sits against the retina at the back of the eye, where it will electronically stimulate the retinal neurons that send visual info to the brain. While current visual pictures are blocky and low-resolution, expect technology to catch up and offer higher resolutions down the road.

We communicate with other folks everyday through a myriad of ways, whether we like it or not. Why not let the Agil device help you out soon after? Assuming both parties have an Agil each, they are able to filter sounds in your surroundings, making certain your ears get the stuff that only you want to take in, such as when someone is talking to you. that helps give your brain some rest since it won’t need to process that much knowledge. The Agil can additionally hook up to an MP3 player, cellphone and headphones.
