Taga bike transforms into baby stroller in an instant
March 19, 2010
OK, so perhaps an instant here is used liberally as we are talking about a handful of seconds, depending on how well wired your brain is when it comes to fixing stuff. The Taga bike that we're talking about is a three-wheeler tricycle which can turn into a baby stroller in just 20 seconds for those who are already adept at it, while we suspect first timers might have a brawny day initially. The first shipment of Tagas to the US are expected to reach that April 15th. Check out the video above to get a better concept on how the Taga works.

LEDs on Ikea coffee table
March 9, 2010
Check out that ordinary Ikea coffee table which has been hacked to include a whole bunch of LEDs - we're talking about 6,144 of these in total. Tobias, the brain and hands behind that mod, sourced a trio of display boards from certain Electronics for a total of 96 8×8 modules. These boards rely on a serial interface to be addressed, where a quartet of serial lines are used for each board although a shared details bus for each of the row choose pins and the data/latch/clock pins. Definitely worth checking out whether you're into DIY goodness to enhance the overall look of your home.

Android Smartphone Can Control Robots On Its Own
March 6, 2010

You’ve certainly seen mobile phones controlling various devices before, with television sets probably one of the more common devices, but what about the phone autonomously controlling its steed by itself? That’s what a duo of web engineers have done. Dubbed the Truckbot, that setup has a HTC G1 attached the chassis, acting as a brain, controlling the chassis. Thanks to the phone’s built-in compass, it can navigate and turn in specified directions. The best part is that since it’s a DIY job, the cost of it was about $30, and the instructions have been listed online. A breakdown of the money spent to come up with that includes:

Neuralieve could end headache misery for some
March 5, 2010

Suffering from headaches and migraines is no joke as you might look fine from the outside, but actually have a whole nuclear bomb going on under the noggin'. The Neuralive device could be the reply to prayers of millions worldwide, as a recent trial of the Headache Management System dud offer a significant reduction of pain in around 40% of tryout patients compared to 22% for the placebo. How is that possible? Well, a pulse of energy is injected into the ‘electrical storm’ in the brain which presages a major headache, where it will stop it from getting any worse. A classic case of prevention is better than cure here. Never mind whether it doesn’t stop your headache – just don’t build it worse.

Rock Band drum kit transformed to poker game controller
March 5, 2010
Who would have thought that your everyday Rock Band drum kit could actually receive a new lease of life in the scheme of a poker game controller? Poker Listings' Sean Lind is the brain behind that notion, where he has conjured a fairly simple method of turning a regular Rock Band drum kit into a set of controls for poker. Guess those who enjoy a game of poker but do not have the skills to build it big moment can blame it on the lack of drumming skills next.

DentalVibe does away with pain
March 4, 2010

Many humans loathe going to the dentist as the pain is not limited to just your mouth, but wallet as well once he/she is done with your pearly whites. The DentalVibe device aims to reverse such a trend, offering a new way to eliminate pain completely while your mouth is wide open to scrutiny. that is made possible thanks to the efforts of Dr. Steven G. Goldberg DDS and Bresslergroup, where the DentalVibe will vibrate at irregular intervals to idiot your brain into noticing percussive vibration and not that of a needle being inserted into your gums. Still doesn't solve the problem of your pocket hurting though.

DIY: Build Your Own 40 Display Setup
March 2, 2010

If you think you’ve got one of the coolest monitor setups in town, you’ll want to take a look at that jaw-dropping 40-monitor setup. While the initial concept was to set up 60 monitors, consisting of a mix of 19-inch and 24-inch monitors, but in the end the maker settled for 40 units of 24-inch monitors. 6 computers potential the whole setup, and they’re powered by Intel’s Core i7 975 processors, 24GB of DDR3 memory, two SLC SSDs in RAID0 configuration, not to mention some NVIDIA NVS 420s and NVIDIA 9800GTs. In case you’re wondering what that is all for, it’s supposedly used for “intraday trading and development”, but you would be forgiven for thinking that it was the brain of a robot planning to take by planet Earth, after all, why would you see such a cool setup for mundane tasks, right?
