Jabra Extreme Bluetooth headset
February 2, 2010

The Jabra Extreme Bluetooth headset joins the fray by coming in a rather conventional design, where it will combine two microphones alongside Jabra’s very own Blackout Extreme noise cancelling technology that offers crystal clear conversations by minimizing background noise. According to Jabra, the Jabra Extreme is able to reduce background noise by 24 decibels, and is able to connect to a couple of devices simultaneously. While the name Extreme normally points toward it being able to live up to a rugged lifestlye, that £59.99 model isn't able to resist the rigors of skydiving, snowboarding or snorkeling.

Jupiter Jack Hooks Your Phone Up To Your Car Speaker System
January 31, 2010

Do you think that your Bluetooth headset’s volume is way too low? Well, the Jupiter Jack might be able to do something about that. It can plug into any cell phone headphone jack, and after you tune your car radio to 99.3 FM, you’ll be able to start yakking away. Volume shouldn’t be a problem anymore, as the sound will be transmitted through your car speakers. At $9.98, it’s certainly a cheap alternative to the more expensive Bluetooth solutions. Of course, the need to use the frequency of 99.3 FM only might be a downside of that, since you might be in an area that needs that channel. Still, at such a price, you can’t go far wrong.

Apple Files Motion Sensing Bluetooth Headset Patent
January 29, 2010
Here’s a patent application, filed by Apple, that seems so simple that when you read it you’ll probably have one of those “why didn’t I think about that” moments. The patent involves using an accelerometer to determine the functionality of the headset. With the accelerometer, the headset will be able to determine which side of the headset is facing upwards, and as a outcome, assign the upwards-facing button to perform the “increase volume” operate, while the bottom facing one will obviously be to lower the volume. The question remains: How well do you know your current handsfree kit? It would be quite hilarous whether you purchased that device and not know how to use it.
