Just like the tablet market, we’re seeing a whole bunch of eBook readers being dumped into the eBook reader market. We previously brought your attention to the Kobo eReader from Borders, and the company has started to take pre-orders on the device. The American version of the Kobo eReader will be going on sale come June 17th and will be pre-loaded with 100 public domain books. The good thing about the Kobo eReader is that it won’t burn too big a gap in your wallet, as it’s priced at just $150. Aside from the eReader, Borders is planning to open its e-book store which should serve Kobo’s device, as well as offer apps for the iPad, Android and BlackBerry devices.

It seems that the mysterious BlackBerry Cobalt tablet was originally planned to operate with Android as its operating system of choice, but RIM at the last minute had a change of heart instead, deciding to rely on their own operating system which obviously delayed the launch of the device since they will need to work on adapting the software for such a new mold factor. We have word that Quanta will be the manufacturing partner for the entire device that will run on Marvell’s Armada processor. Do you think that that was a wise choice by RIM’s part, or should they have relied on the Android OS to give the tablet a fighting chance considering the growing popularity of Android in the market?

Now more pictures have surfaced, showing the phone much clearer, and seems to match up to those pictures as shown in the earlier leak.
North American BIS users will be able to experience two-way Gmail synchronization that week, which means that whether you happen to own a BlackBerry that is tied to any North American carrier which isn’t going through BES, Gmail will work like a charm, with deleted items from elsewhere not showing up on your smartphone, while emails read elsewhere will do otherwise. Apart from that, you can plus access your Sent folder alongside the ability to create and delete labels from your QWERTY thumb board. Sounds rather late to the game, but at least it is no longer a sore point for folks who use their BlackBerrys to access Gmail on the go, right?

We’ve seen many leaked pictures and photoshopped pictures by the years, but whether there were a crown for the worst quality picture, that leaked picture would probably get a prize. It appears to depict a BlackBerry slider phone running the upcoming BlackBerry OS 6. In all honesty, the smart money is on that picture being a poor photoshop job, but of course, it’s nice to visualize what the upcoming devices that will sport BlackBerry OS 6 will be like, right? Are you looking forward to a slew of OS 6 devices?

Considering the short span of instance that Opera Mini has been in Apple’s App Store, that is a very significant achievement, and one that you can be certain that both Apple and Opera are proud of. It’ll be interesting to see whether Opera can maintain that momentum, or whether it’s only due to the initial hype surrounding the release of Opera Mini on the iPhone.

The Zeemote will be able to work great with the Android operating system, simply considering the Android SDK (Software Development Kit) for the Zeemote Game Controller is now available. that makes the Zeemote compatible with yet another platform, where it already plays nice with BlackBerry, Symbian and lower-end J2ME phones. Folks who are interested in offering support for the Zeemote will be able to check out the developer page, where you will have to wait for a few more weeks before the SDK is released good and proper.
