Phone Halo Protect: Lost Phone Finder

[DEMO Spring 2010] I often misplace or lose my smartphone, and one day, it did cost me a lot (!) so, that product might be perfect. Phone Halo Protect, is launching at DEMO Spring 2010. It helps society prevent the loss or misplacement of their phones, keys, wallet and more. It works by attaching a small Bluetooth device to keys, purse or briefcase for example, the Phone Halo Software runs on a smartphone (iPhone, BlackBerry, etc) and tracks the distance amidst the device and the phone, when the two are separated by a user defined distance, it triggers an heads up that makes them both ring. Phone Halo is available for Android and Blackberry phones, the iPhone version is coming soon.

The four main software features are:

Protect: Whenever the phone or halo’d valuable becomes separated from the other, both the phone and halo device ring.

Find: Using an option on the Phone Halo Protect, the user can cause their halo’d device to ring. that lets the user easily find those misplaced keys before work. that works the other way around by pressing a button on the halo device to cause your phone to ring.

Locate: Whenever the user loses their phone or halo’d item, Phone Halo Protect records the GPS location to let the user know where they last saw their valuables.

Share: The Phone Halo Protect share option lets the user easily share that they’ve lost an item through e mail, text, post to their social networks.

ThickButtons: Smart Virtual Keyboard For Android

[DEMO Spring 2010] Today, ThickButtons 0.6 will be launching at DEMO 2010. The concept behind the application is pretty simple: improving typing on a touchscreen by shrinking the letters that are not likely to be used and enlarging the keys that will be used (See picture). I have to try that app: I hate to type on virtual keyboards, that's why I carry both the iPhone and the BlackBerry. According to the company, ThickButtons is less dependent on dictionary input than other predictive technologies that guess the full word, consequently, it learns new words like slang and Instant letter or SMS acronyms quickly. ThickButtons 0.6 is available now for free download at the on Android Market. To download on your phone visit market://search?q=pname:com.thickbuttons (phone link). Check the ThickButtons video demo.

BlackBerry OS 6.0 Picture Leaked?

This is far from confirmed, so take it with a pinch of salt. A picture of what is claimed to be the upcoming BlackBerry OS 6 has been leaked. To be honest, it looks quite a bit like the concierge app that was on show a while back, so that could be another Photoshop job. whether it is true, what do you think about it? It seems a tad cramped, but we’re certain some society like the info overdose.
