Check out that interesting wind turbine that relies on boundary layers instead of blades so that it can generate ability without making a sound. Patented by Solar Aero, that turbine known as the Fuller turbine was modeled after the 1913 Tesla steam turbine, where it is fully enclosed and virtually silent, doing away with traditional drawbacks of bladed turbines such as noise, radar interference, visual pollution and wildlife injuries. The turbine will most likely come with a cut-in speed of about 3.5 knots and an optimum speed of around 20 knots, offering near transparency to radar microwave transmissions using proper construction materials and techniques. Currently in the prototype stage, the world waits with bated breath for working units to be released in varying sizes in due instance.

On the contrary to what we reported yesterday, Microsoft has denied that they will be rolling out a Zune phone, claiming that “the update was only maintenance and nothing consumer facing. As far as a ‘Zune phone,’ we have no plans to create a Zune phone. It makes sense that someday Zune could be part of a phone experience, but there have been no announcements about how or whether that will happen.” Zune phone or not, the whole world’s (just about) going to come to a standstill in less than an hour’s duration as we wait with bated breath on what Cupertino is about to unleash…
