Tungle.me Open API

Tungle.me Open API

[SXSW] I saw Tungle the first time when the Canada-based company launched at Demo in Spring 2007, and Richard Zeidel, VP Strategic Alliances, showed me a demo at SXSW where the company announced its Open API. Tungle is a scheduling and calendar sharing application with a social networking component; it synchronizes with most online calendars such as Google Calendar, Outlook, Lotus Notes, iCal, and Entourage.

Tungle makes meeting organization a lot easier by offering a personal calendar page on the web, accessible from newsletter via a link: on the person profile page you can see the available slots and choose the perfect moment quickly, thereupon you add your personal info and it will be sent to other attendees via newsletter, no need to sign in to get that done. (see photo gallery or video demo after the jump).

Loopt Revamped iPhone App with Pulse Feature

March 17, 2010

[SXSW] At SXSW, I met with Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO, of Loopt, a location-based social networking site, and he showed me the new Loopt app for the iPhone. Loopt introduced its new Pulse button that allows SXSW attendees to access a consolidated guide for all the panels, films, bands, and parties going on at SXSW (Pulse! tab > Events) From there users can listen to music clips from the SXSW bands and see who else is going on Facebook. Loopt was one of the first successful mobile location-based social networking site, but now competing with trendy new comers Gowalla and Foursquare, who added a gaming component to the regular location-based social networking, the company had to release a check-in feature 5 months ago.

According to Sam Altman, the site counts now by 3 millions users, and the new Pulse feature include tens of thousands of local events, allow check-in to events, public Tips, and the ability to RSVP to events posted on Facebook. New partners SonicLiving, Zvents and Metromix are giving access to music and entertainment subject matter to Loopt users.

Google Chrome OS slated for Thursday event

Looks like tomorrow is set to be a big day as Google will most probably preview its Chrome OS at a special event held at its headquarters in Mountain View, California. Apart from providing some technical background data while parading demos of the Chrome OS, attendees will additionally benefit from a complete overview. Guess the Chrome OS is not quite yet ready for prime day action at the moment - we could be looking at a 2010 release moment.
