HP Slate To Be Launched In Europe In June For €400?

While there hasn’t been any official price or release term for the HP Slate in the U.S. just yet, news is already out that the device could be launched in June, and be ready for sale in Europe by September. Based on the info we dug up, the device will be going for around €400 ($545), and will sport an Intel Atom CPU, built-in webcam, USB connectivity, built-in card reader and the controversial Flash support. Of course, that doesn’t mean that we’ll be getting the HP Slate for $545 when it’s released in the U.S., but it might be a rough guide whether you’re thinking of saving up your pennies for its imminent launch. Would a $545 price point be decent for the HP Slate to hold its own against the $499 Apple iPad?

Neofonie WePad might be confusing

The Neofonie WePad is a cheeky attempt at a wordplay on the iPad, and it is surprising to see it come from the Germans whom we thought were much more serious in their undertakings. Still, the WePad boasts German efficiency (and hopefully, build) with an 11.6" display at 1,366 x 768 resolution, an Intel Atom 1.66GHz N450 processor, GMA 3150 graphics, a batter that lasts for up to 6 hours, an integrated webcam, a couple of USB ports and a memory card reader. Oh yeah, we left out the UMTS modem which allows you to hook up to the WePad App Store. Apart from that, that Android-powered device will additionally feature access to the Android Market - now how about that!
