Looks like Palm will have to find another white knight to bail them out of their current financial predicament – HTC will not be purchasing the company, where according to an internal source, there “just weren’t abundant synergies to take the deal forward.” Guess the only serious contender out of Asia is Lenovo as at point of publishing, since Lenovo has ample cash sitting in their bank to take Palm through and forward.

LG’s X300 notebook is more than ready to hit various markets in Asia, the Middle East and South America from March onwards. As you know, we took a closer look at the LG X300 back at CES earlier that year, so here are some of the specifications just to give you a refresher course. The X300 sports an 11.6″ HD display at 1,366 x 768 resolution, running on Windows 7 Home Premium with a battery that offers up to 7 hours of run instance. Apart from that, you will get an Intel Atom 2GHz processor and a 128GB SSD to go along with its fanless chassis. No view on a US release just yet though, so stay tuned.

Sony just launched a new series of PC headphones spearheaded by the Sony DR-350USB (in photo the above). It is available in Gold, Black and Red and has a built-in Microphone and comes with a little remote that controls the volume and offers a Mute option, which is always a good thing, when in conference calls! Anyhow, what we like is the design of the headphone, even whether we don’t know whether it is comfortable or whether the sound is good — for now. Product page (Sony Asia) – that is not yet available for retail at SonyStyle.com, so the retail price is unknown.

Fortunately Google seems to have been listening, and word is that Google has been working with a company in the Netherlands to bring said feature to folks by in Europe. Speculation is that the company might be Navteq (which is owned by Nokia), and the recent withdrawal of Navteq from the Android market serves to further strengthen speculation. whether Google were to start rolling out its free turn-by-turn navigation in Europe, and perhaps extend it to Asia, companies that focus on GPS such as Garmin might start to shudder in fear.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz seemed to have hit the market earlier than expected, where it will be equipped with an 8-megapixel shooter and a 3.2″ WVGA touchscreen display. Apparently, Sony Ericsson has yet to drop the Symbian operating system just yet in favor of Android, but they will release the Vivaz in Europe as well as Asia later that quarter for around $670 to $750. At that price point, we’re pretty certain not many citizens would be willing to loosen their purse strings considering there isn’t even Android running in the background.

Hisense of China had the high sense (pun intended) to release its E90 Android-powered cellphone that features CDMA radio support, where it hopes to venture into the universal market as well. Makes us scratch our heads as most of Europe and Asia rely on GSM though. Well, underneath the hood you will find a Qualcomm QSC6085 chipset, powering a 3.5″ HVGA TFT touchscreen display, a 5-megapixel camera with autofocus, Bluetooth connectivity, an integrated FM radio and a 1500mAh battery. There are whispers of the Hisense E90 arriving in China that month on China Telecom, but even that has yet to be confirmed, let alone its price. Seems to be a pretty decent phone via its specifications alone – lets see whether it can help boost Android’s portfolio worldwide.

The Android Market has received another noteworthy application known as shoot it!, where that postcard messaging application enables users to snap a photo, type in a personal note and send it out as an actual, paper postcard to participating countries all through North America, Western Europe and selected areas of Asia. The country list is set to grow, so be patient whether your place of residence isn’t stated yet. All orders will be printed nearly immediately and set out the next business day. While the app itself on the Android Market is free, it will cost $0.99 to send one to any address in the US, $1.24 for the rest of North America, the UK and Japan, and $1.49 for the rest of Western Europe and Asia.
