TDK managed to stumble upon a method to tint touchscreens in a cost-effective manner, where they add color to transparent electrode sheets which serve as the basis of those displays. Such electrode sheets will come in 13 colors down the road, where among them include red, green, blue, aquamarine, purple and black hues. The whole notion of having so many colors is to match the device’s body color with its touchscreen to create an nearly seamless look. All these electrode sheets will be made up of a thin film of indium tin oxide, where an adhesive layer is added to a resin film substrate to conjure a film that can be placed down evenly. Samples will be delivered to manufacturers soon, with mass production starting in April next year.

Scotland can now claim to play host to the world’s largest working hydro-electric wave energy device – the Oyster. that machine is Aquamarine Power’s first demonstration-scale wave energy device, and based on the claim that a farm of 20 Oysters would supply decent energy to potential 9,000 three bedroom family homes, it’s certainly something worth looking into. With minimal moving parts, and all electrical components being onshore, it should be robust suitable to resist the rigors of Scotland’s harsh seas.
