Updating your applications on Google’s Android is never a fun affair, and whether you have multiple applications to update, you might feel like tearing your hair out, as you need to update each application individually. Now it seems that following the leak that the HTC Magic was caught running Android 2.2, it seems that there might be a possibility that Android 2.2 might offer self-moving application updates, as per the screenshot above. Of course, there isn’t any way to verify that at the moment, but whether it does turn out to be real, it would be a great improvement for Android users, wouldn’t you think?

The Strada and Strada Center loudspeakers are certainly beauties to behold, particularly when they are packed wtih the latest proprietary impulse connection system called the OPT. Making full use of the CDT 3 tweeter, both Strada and Strada Center loudspeakers were developed after the company conducted a market research only to find out that “size and price are the two most vital criteria when buying a loudspeaker”, resulting in a small, visually appealing speaker which would sound great just about anywhere, in multiple applications, and still be affordable. Audiophiles who are looking for something different, these might be just the thing for your living room.

Nokia Ovi Store has added motion-based applications and games to the mix, hoping to jump onto the wave of games that has made the iPod touch and iPhone such successful portable gaming platforms. For those who are curious, we would point you towards eyeCall – where you move your hand in front of the camera to silent an incoming signal, while covering the phone with your hand will send the caller an self-moving SMS. Games are still in their infancy, so don’t expect anything too engaging from Nokia at the moment.

Nice to know that developers have taken some steps to include Java compatibility on the Android platform, particularly Zurich-based Myriad who came up with a spanking new tool called J2Android. J2Android will convert Java MIDlet apps so that they can run on Android seamlessly.

Myriad J2Android delivers self-moving conversion of compiled MIDlets into Android applications, providing a trouble-free and cost-effective solution. Further software features include adaptive screen scaling and the ability to apply virtual keypads and softkeys, allowing both users and composition owners to benefit from full use of the screen estate.

It would be nice to see the different types of applications and games made available with that development, eh?

Word is going around that carriers are actually getting a cut of the ad revenue when the handsets come bundled with Google applications such as Search, Maps and Gmail, since those aren’t a requirement of Android. Of course, the advertisements served on those platforms are nearly non-existent, aside from those displayed along with search results. But with Google’s recent purchase of AdMob for $750m, things might get significantly juicier for the carriers. There isn’t anything wrong with that, of course, but it could be one of the many factors are to why Google’s Android has been gaining a lot of momentum in the market. Google and several carriers and handset makers declined on comment about that latest update.

Huawei makes a new record with the fastest LTE-advanced downlink speed which is capable of hitting 1.2 Gb/s at CTIA Wireless 2010 in Las Vegas, Nevada. that record speed is by 40 times that of current commercial 3G networks, and will no doubt revolutionize the user experience by meeting bandwidth requirements of data-heavy applications. Currently, Huawei has deployed by 60 LTE networks worldwide, where nine of those are commercial ones. Can’t wait to see that in action Stateside though – imagine streaming video on your handset by that network!

Details of Apple’s hush-hush protection measures have come up again, as the company seems to love to work in secrecy. Word is out that some developers have received iPads to experiment their applications on, but apparently they had to jump through quite a few hoops in order to get a unit. Apparently testers were called for to promise to keep the unit isolated in a room with blacked-out windows, not to mention that the iPad must remain tethered to a fixed object. Just to assemble certain that they comply, Apple won’t send out the iPad until potential partners send photographic evidence that they’ve complied. We’re certainly looking forward to getting our iPad when it’s released, so stay tuned!

While most of us haven’t moved to a cloud computing operating system just yet, Microsoft has just made its cloud-based operating system, Windows Azure, available in India. In terms of dollars and cents, a cloud-based operating system hosted on Microsoft’s input centers will be available for $0.12 per hour, while storage on Azure will cost enterprises $0.15/GB on a monthly basis.

Microsoft already claims to have by 3,000 applications developed from India that are currently hosted on the cloud platform, which should give it a good kick start. Based on figures from Microsoft, it’s said that the Windows Azure Platform can reduce the Total Cost of Operations by up to 30-40% by a three-year period. Are you looking to move your operating system to the cloud, or are you happy with things are they currently are?
