Android-powered Neofonie WePad Tablet

It looks like there is going to be another entrant into the increasingly-crowded tablet market, and that moment it's the WePad from Neofonie. Despite it sounding like a plural version of Apple’s iPad, that tablet obviously isn’t related to Apple’s latest darling. Word is that the WePad will be powered by Google’s android, and will even be able to access a WePad AppStore. While there isn’t any pricing knowledge just yet, specifications of the device are available, which include:

10-pack Of iPads Available For Educational Institutions

Nintendo isn’t the only one who wants its devices in schools, as Apple has begun promoting its 10-pack iPad bundles for educational institutions. When purchased in a pack, the price of the iPad is lowered by $20 per iPad, or $40 per iPad whether purchased together with AppleCare. There are plus some environmental benefits of purchasing a pack of ten iPads, as the packaging is reduced by eliminating separate retail boxing for the devices. Each package will consist of ten iPads, along with the USB-to-Dock connector cables, capability adapters, and a one set of documentation. Will the iPad be a useful education tool, or do you think that the MacBook is still more suitable?

XGPS300 GPS Navigation Cradle For Your iPod Touch Is Now Shipping

The Dual Electronics XGPS300 GPS Cradle for the iPod touch was announced a few months back, and it has taken a while, but the device has finally started to ship directly from Apple. It’s currently going for $199.95, and will come with the obvious built-in GPS receiver, rechargeable battery, speaker, NavAtlas US/Canada map app. It might seem a tad more expensive that some of the committed GPS devices in the market, so you might want to think carefully before you drop your hard-earned money for that. That being said, granting your iPod touch GPS capabilities is certainly cool, right?

Sony Ericsson's Xperia X10 Unboxed

Sony Xperia’s X10 might be just around the corner, but that doesn’t form any unboxing event of the phone less exciting. Now a video of Sony Ericsson’s upcoming flagship phone being unboxed has surfaced online. The phone is still powered by Google’s Android 1.6, which is obviously older than the current Android 2.1, and Sony Ericsson has done a good job to pretty up the OS. Rumors are hinting that Sony Ericsson might be updating the OS version on that phone, so there might be hope of getting Android 2.1 on that device just yet. Have you decided to pick that phone by Apple’s iPhone, or do you still think that the iPhone or Google’s Nexus One is more appealing? Video of the phone being unboxed after the jump.

App Store Is Now Accepting iPad Apps

With the iPad just around the corner, developers are going to be jumping for joy when they receive the mail from Apple (which has been sent out) notifying them that they can now start submitting apps for the iPad App Store. The app will obviously be reviewed by Apple’s App Review Team, which is pretty much the same process for submitting your app for the iPhone. You’ll need to submit your app by March 27th in order to produce it for the grand opening. Don’t forget that your app needs to be built using the iPhone SDK 3.2 Beta 5 in order to be accepted for the initial review. Do you have any apps lined up to be reviewed by the App Review Team already?

Why iGroups is coming to an iPhone near you!

March 19, 2010

Apple Inc. filed a patent application recently for mobile social networking technology called iGroups.

Mobile social networking is the use of location info ("I'm at MacWorld right now") to connect with colleagues ("you're here, too!") in a way that enhances social networking, replaces the exchanging of business cards and facilitates face-to-face meetings.

The filing of a patent doesn't mean Apple will turn that technology into a product. But I think they will -- and soon. Here's why.
