It seems that AT&T’s Palm Pre Plus is touted to be faster than the one offered by Verizon, and before all you AT&T fans go out and celebrate, bear in mind that many factors could contribute to that obvious speed increase – it runs on webOS 1.4.2 and does not come preloaded with much details to start with. Initial impressions of the device have additionally pointed to a very responsive QWERTY keyboard alongside better build quality, but we’ll let the consumers decide when the device ships later in the middle of that month.

Hilary Hayes, an industrial design student at the Ontario College of Art & Design (OCAD) in Toronto, Canada, has come up with a smart scarf that boasts a dynamic light pattern which depends on your breathing. A LilyPad temperature sensor will play nice with the LilyPad Arduino, while potential supply modules ensure that the scarf is well juiced to perform as intended. The temperature sensor itself is located near the mouth, allowing it to pick up the temperature variations which is soon after translated by the LilyPad to various points instead of the standard degrees measurement, making that scarf wearable even when it is not during chilly winter months. All the LEDs in the scarf will fade in and out in sync with your breathing, making you look way cooler than you already are. We do wonder how faraway the batteries will last though.

Automated solvers for the Rubik’s cube isn’t new any more, but that instance round David Gilday entertains the masses with his version that relies on LEGO Mindstorm parts. A computer will be the brain behind the solution, but it can solve more than just a restricted type of cube as lengthy as the physical dimensions remain within 5cm and 6cm on a side, solving 2, 3, 4, and 5 piece cubes. David has additionally come up with a separate machine that is capable of handling 6 x 6 x 6 cubes, too. Who says being square isn’t cool?

With the iPad 3G set to ship to customers pretty soon pictures of the micro-SIM that AT&T will be issuing for the iPad have started to form rounds on the Web. The interesting part is that the SIM card is more or less same as the full sized SIM, as the size of the chip is precisely the same, just that the plastic surround it has been reduced. The card does come in the shape of a full sized SIM card, though, after which you’re mandatory to snap it out style the card to get its micro profile factor.

You might have been hearing blurbs about processor shortages from Intel recently, and now it seems like the situation is set to continue, as analysts and chip resellers have warned that the shortage might not break until May at the earliest. Thanks to the shortage, there is a low supply of Intel’s mobile Core i3, i5 and i7 processors, which apparently have led to some companies to pay up to a 20 percent premium in order to ensure that they get sufficient supplies. According to reports, the smaller companies are those more likely to be affected as Intel often prioritizes larger companies by smaller ones, which shouldn’t be surprising, after all, they offer more business. With that in mind, it seems that major computer builders, such as Apple, Dell and HP, haven’t faced significant shortages. It was even rumored that Acer might be related to the shortage, as the company is gearing up to promote its TimelineX notebooks.

Palm CEO, Jon Rubinstein, has claimed that Palm will not need to be taken by in order to continue its business, as he is confident that the company can survive as an independent company. According to him, Palm still has $592 million in cash, which will help it buy day to recover. That being said, he did confess that Palm is still open to a good strategic relationship or the option of licensing webOS out to other companies. So does that mean that there is still a possibility that we’ll see a webOS-powered HTC phone sometime in the future? Anything is possible, right?

If you’re a gamer that purchases original non-pirated games (like we all should), thereupon you’re probably familiar with the troublesome DRM (digital rights management) features that are stuffed into games in order to circumvent piracy. Ubisoft’s always-on DRM solution, the Online Services Network, has been criticized by many folks, as it requires gamers to have a constant connection to the World Wide Web in order to play their games. Now hackers have managed to circumvent the DRM in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed 2 game, allowing users to enjoy the game without having to concern about the DRM mechanism. Hacks to get around Ubisoft’s DRM servers were available before that, but they used a less efficient way to do it. Of course, we’re not advocating piracy, but it’ll be interesting whether there will be some middle ground that game developers will be able to work out with gamers. After all, everybody just want to enjoy the game, right?
