Business computers used to be exclusively in the hands of the IT departments, but with the convergence of business and consumer’s needs, particularly in the laptop category for small business owners, PC manufacturers are creating a “bus-sumer” category to serve that market segment. HP is coming up with a very elegant S-Series business notebook that will look good both in a living room and in a corporate office. Aside the beautiful brushed aluminum cover that comes in Caviar (dark brown) or Bordeaux (red-brown-see pictures), the new HP ProBook S-Series features Intel Core i3, i5 and i7processors, 2 MP webcam with face recognition for secure logon, a fingerprint sensor, optional anti-glare or BrightView display that comes in 13-inch ( HP ProBook 4320s ), 14-inch ( HP ProBook 4420s ), 15-inch ( HP ProBook 4520s ), or 17-inch ( HP ProBook 4720s ). Additionally, you will get an eSata / USB 2.0 combo port, a HDMI output, and a choice of Intel HD Graphics or discreet graphics. HP tried to manufacture people's lifes easier by providing a photo editing software, the ARCSoft Total Media Suite, key features include face recognition to speed up the photo tagging process and a beautify button that smooth out flaws on the skin and faces. The HP Day starter allows users to access their day calendar (read only) instantly while Windows is still booting in the background (see last picture in the gallery). The S-Series will be available in March, starting at $925 for the 17-inch, $759 for the 13-inch and 14-inch and $719 for the 15-inch.

HP EliteBook 2740p Convertible Tablet

HP is rolling out its new business notebook lineup and one of them is a convertible tablet. The main change from its predecessor is the option to get the latest Intel Core processors in standard voltage (i5 and i7) instead of only low capability, fulfilling customers ‘ desire for better performances. that bulky tablet (6.8 lbs) boasts a 12.1 inch multitouch LED display with optional anti-glare, 5 hours of battery life with the six-cell, or 11 hours of juice whether you choose the optional HP 2700 Ultra-Slim Battery ( see photo gallery). In case you prefer to use the low capability processor, you can get an optical drive or a secondary hard drive in the package. An optional travel base is additionally available (see picture in the gallery) the HP 2740 Ultra-Slim Expansion Base supports DispalyPort, an eSata port and includes a DVD+/-RW drive. The HP EliteBook 2740p will be available in April, pricing starts at $1,.599, the Expansion Base will cost $299.

3M 10 Finger Multitouch Display

3M has unveiled its M2256PW display, which is a 22-inch high-definition multitouch LCD display. While multitouch isn’t a new technology, the monitor boasts 3M’s Projected Capacitive Technology, allowing the display to support 10-finger multitouch. While most will probably be wondering why anybody would need 10 finger multitouch, it seems that it might be useful in environments such as computer aided design, digital signage, etc. The screen will have a resolution of 1680 x 1050, DVI and VGA input, anti-glare surface and is compatible with Windows 7.

HypnosEye iPhone projector

No, we're not talking about the iPhone getting its very own built-in projector here, but the HypnosEye can connect to your iPhone, iPod touch or other mobile devices while projecting it via a separate light source by using a special anti-glare mirror and lens to blow up the screen onto a projection surface. The HypnosEye claims that you are able to project an image from 17? to 45? diagonal from a projection distance of 0.5 to 2 meters away, but that remains to be seen until tested. Needless to say, you'll need to reduce the lights to a very dim level in order to see your images. Each purchase of the HypnosEye kit is equipped with both the projection lens unit and a portable 17? diagonal projection surface, retailing for $80 a pop.
