Details On Upcoming AMD Processors Leaked
March 19, 2010

AMD should be releasing its desktop-oriented 6-core processors, codenamed Thuban, next month. The first release should see four chips, the Phenom II X6 1035T, 1055T (in 95W and 125W TDP versions), and the 1075T being released. The chips, manufactured on the 45nm technology, should be sporting 9MB of cache, not to mention an integrated DDR3 memory controller. While there isn’t any pricing info available just yet, thanks to leaked CPU support lists, we do know that the X6 1035T will sport 6-cores at 2.6GHz, while the X6 1055T will be clocked at 2.8GHz. Finally, the Phenom II X6 1075T will be clocked at 3.0GHz. Do you think that the chips will give Intel’s Core i7 a run for its money?

AMD Fusion processors out next year
March 11, 2010

Netbooks looks set to be here to stay for many more years, co-existing peacefully with notebooks, and that has finally caused AMD to shift gear by catering for a committed netbook processor under their Fusion range that ought to see action sometime next year. It seems that the Fusion chips will have capability consumption in the 10-15 watt range alongside decent integrated graphics performance without the need for Ion-powered graphics, all found in a device no larger than 12" in size. What do you think - will Intel and NVIDIA be quaking in their boots?

GeForce GTX 480/470 available in limited quantities at launch (rumor)?
February 26, 2010

NVIDIA is set to launch its next generation (codenamed Fermi) GeForce GTX 480 and 470 on March 26, but while that is supposed to be a "hard launch" (product is available on the same day for purchase), industry watchers are wondering whether quantities will be (very) limited. Digitimes claims that second-tier partners (those who build AMD and NVIDIA cards, versus NVIDIA-only) have not received any reference design boards yet. May be so, but it looks to me like NVIDIA wants to rewards its first-tier partners for their loyalty, so the quantity issue might be a little overblown. The $679.99 price of the GTX 480 would indicate that NVIDIA will claim the speed crown (by how much?) when it launches, and at that price, I don't think that volume is going to be a problem anyway...
