Love all things retro, particularly those mopeds and scooters that were all the rage back in the day when bell bottoms ruled? Well, for folks who want to live out their nostalgia, why not spruce up your living room with a new set of specially handmade Lambretta table lamps by Lamponi? It functions like a standard table lamp, although comes in a totally different anatomy factor, sporting old parts from vintage Lambrettas to help light up your room at night. Coming in a variety of subtle colors to remain nonchalant, the $1,210 asking price is way too steep for any average homemaker, but next again folks with discerning tastes are well known to splurge as they see please, eh?

Can’t decide what to do with your old and dusty Nintendo 64 console? whether you’ve got some fancy soldering skills, you might want to turn turning it into a portable device, which seems to be all the rage nowadays. A forum user called Bentomo has done just that, creating his own Nintendo 64 portable, dubbed the 64 Boy. It’s quite impressive, featuring a 3.5-inch display, external docking station that supports up to four controllers, stereo audio outputs, external memory and rumble pack slots, a charger, and up to four hours of battery life. He’s even willing to sell it to you for a price, though he’s currently taking bids. Check out the video after the jump and see for yourself.

Beautiful Earth Group recently rolled out their containerized electric vehicle (EV) charging station in Red Hook, Brooklyn to keep up with the times where going green is all the rage. Thanks to a highly placed array of photovoltaic panels, the BMW Mini E as seen here is powered by juice generated by the off-grid, modular station. Nice to see that that station is built using recycled shipping containers to keep in line with the green theme. A 3-hour charge will help the BMW Mini E run for around 100 miles, which ain’t too shabby. Just in case you need to construct additional charges, a battery bank located on the upper level of the charging station can be summoned for some action. Now whether only electric vehicles weren’t that expensive…

Going electric seems to be all the rage these days, and Teijin Ltd. of Japan has come up with their new concept prototype known as the “PU_PA EV”. Made using a cacaphony of technologies which involved weight reduction, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and electric vehicles (EVs), it is currently on exhibition at Teijin Mirai Studio, Japan. While the body was made using materials from Teijin, all the other segments such as the electric system, driving and steering systems were purchased from other companies. Unlike other concepts, that one can be driven, although it isn’t road legal just yet as there are safety concerns to deal with beforehand. that two-seater has an average running speed of 60km/h and can hit 100km per charge.

You know that ebook readers are all the rage these days with many manufacturers coming on board, even those from China. The latest of them from that part of the world would be the Bmorn B80 ebook reader, albeit with very little data being released about it save for the fact that it comes with a color display (no concept on the kind of technology that drives it though) which will most probably have an adverse impact on the battery life. plus, with no word on its composition distribution model, chances are that is a one-off device that won’t come anywhere near being a Kindle rival.

Multitouch is all the rage these days, and with different kinds of touchscreens lurking out there, it can be quite a unbreakable signal to figure out just which touchscreen works best under all conditions. Stantum from France decided to create one which is able to handle both stylus input as well as being finger-friendly – now how about that. It is additionally capable of recognizing up to 10 inputs simultaneously, allowing you to use all fingers and two thumbs at once assuming there’s such a gesture which is supported. In addition, it is plus capable of recognizing pressure-sensitive finger input, which will come particularly useful in digital imaging programs. No notion on which device will carry Stantum’s newest multitouch display soon though.
