You know that ebook readers are all the rage these days with many manufacturers coming on board, even those from China. The latest of them from that part of the world would be the Bmorn B80 ebook reader, albeit with very little data being released about it save for the fact that it comes with a color display (no concept on the kind of technology that drives it though) which will most probably have an adverse impact on the battery life. plus, with no word on its composition distribution model, chances are that is a one-off device that won't come anywhere near being a Kindle rival.

Asus unveils NVIDIA Optimus-powered notebooks

Stantum offers new multitouch display

Multitouch is all the rage these days, and with different kinds of touchscreens lurking out there, it can be quite a unbreakable signal to figure out just which touchscreen works best under all conditions. Stantum from France decided to create one which is able to handle both stylus input as well as being finger-friendly - now how about that. It is additionally capable of recognizing up to 10 inputs simultaneously, allowing you to use all fingers and two thumbs at once assuming there's such a gesture which is supported. Toshiba Viamo portable ultrasound device

Touchscreen capability is all the rage these days, and Toshiba knows that, hence their Viamo portable ultrasound convertible touchscreen device which is touted to offer a similar image quality as that of premium cart systems. The whole works will include a wheeled pole which is capable of toting the viamo as well as additional transducers for easy exchange. It takes but a few seconds to capability up that system upon opening it, making it useful nearly instantaneously in critical situations.

Amazon Announces Kindle Development Kit

We’ve mentioned that application stores are all the rage nowadays, and it seems that even Amazon’s Kindle isn’t immune to the lure of application stores. Amazon has announced its Kindle Development Kit (KDK), which will allow software makers to build applications for Kindle. There will be 3 types of apps allowed: Free, one-time payment and monthly payment. The part that is slightly intriguing is that since users don’t have to pay a monthly fee for the wireless connection; developers are needed to pay 15 cents per megabyte for subject matter delivery. Of course, they’ll be able to keep 70% of the revenue after expenses, so it’ll be interesting to see how the math is done. Mobile gaming veteran EA has plus signed on for that, though you have to wonder what kind of games you’ll be playing on the Kindle.
From next month onwards, participants in the limited beta will be able to download the KDK, access developer support, analysis subject matter on Kindle, and of course, submit the finished item. Will the Kindle, with its domination of the eBook reader scene, dominate the eBook reader app scene too?

Panasonic Japan gets new plasma HDTVs

While 3D HDTVs seem to be all the rage as evident by the range of displays shown at CES 2010, Panasonic of Japan has not forgotten about the plasma crowd with a couple of new plasma displays ready to be unveiled - the VIERA G2 and S2 series. The G2 is touted to boast an image quality which is roughly 33% better compared to the outgoing G1 range, while hitting an impressive contrast ratio of 5,000,000:1 courtesy of Panasonic's new PDP Black panel. Apart from that, you will plus find that your G2 is room-aware, thanks to its integrated sensors and robotic image adjustment feature that will adjust the display's brightness and temperature characteristics according to the room's current ambient light levels. There will be a trio of HDMI inputs, a D4 input, three composites, an S-video, Ethernet, a VGA input and a quartet of RCA audio pairs to get the ball rolling. As for the S2, you get a more conservative 2,000,000:1 contrast ratio with a higher efficiency level compared to its predecessors. Shipping from February onwards in Japan, prices start from $2,100 upwards.

Samsung Apps Released For Various Countries

Mobile application stores are all the rage these days, and now Samsung has announced the expansion of its application store, Samsung Apps. By late January, folks who are living in Singapore, Germany, Brazil and China and own an Omnia II or OmniaLITE will have access to Samsung Apps. Apps such as Guitar Hero, Spiderman, and Need for Speed will be available during launch, amongst others, and there will be more to come. Users will plus be able to take advantage of Kies, a software suite that allows you to search and download applications directly from PCs, and since applications that are installed on your phone are synced with a PC, you won’t have to concern about backing up your application downloads.
