Fancy an alarm clock that doesn’t tell the day before it is its turn to ring? Well, that’s the Woodpecker Alarm Clock for you – it has no clock face to tell the instance, but it will be able to measure just how distant you ahve been asleep, waking you up when you have had just the right amount. The way it does so is not through the loud blaring of an alarm, but instead imitates the sound of a woodpecker which more or less should work with the majority of folks out there. There are a couple of alarms available, one for the evening to inform you that it is date to go to bed, while the other is obviously the wee hours one to help you get out of bed. Good only for those with a set schedule, otherwise folks with various wake up times each day will have to look elsewhere.

The amount of accessories and docks on the market for the iPhone and iPad is staggering. iHome makes a lot of these items and has announced that its high-end iP90 alarm clock has been updated for 2010.

Apple has filed a new patent application that shows an interesting way to tell who is using the phone. The app outlines a heart rate sensor that is built into the case and reads the heart rate to identify the user.

The saga of police raids and legal wrangling surrounding the publishing of the iPhone HD prototype on Gizmodo are legendary. A judge presiding by the case has now been told that the documents that are secret right now outlining why the search of the Gizmodo editors home was allowed should be public. These sorts of documents are public record in most cases.

If you have fond memories of Lego when you were a kid, chances are you will find the Lego Star Wars Alarm Clock to be worth every penny – after all, it must be built ground up from Lego bricks, although it won’t pose too much of a challenge to most folks since there are just 21 pieces to work on, complete with Chewbacca and Stormtrooper minifigures to round off a geeky alarm clock. Too poor you won’t get pew-pew sounds of a blaster to jolt you out of bed!

The Dragonpad iPad docking station is an interesting device since it comes with an integrated speaker for your spanking new iPad, and looks as though there is additionally a built-in alarm clock to help you get out of bed easier during those rainy mornings when your body just wants to sleep in. Equipped with a quartet of 5W speakers, we have no view on whether that will ever produce its way to our shores or not. Do you think that there is a market for iPad docks?

What makes the iHome iA5 alarm clock iPhone dock very different from the rest would be it shipping with is own customized application known as the iHome+Sleep app which is available on the iTunes App Store for free. It lets you program up to 18 sleep or nap alarms (as though you need that many!), alongside custom 7.5.2 settings for weekdays, workdays and the weekend. It retails for $99.99 a pop and does look as though its Reson8 speaker chamber technology is able to wake you up much better than the iPhone or iPod touch’s very own speakers.

Folks with hearing ability issues might sometimes fail to notice urgent situations due to the inability to build out an alarm. British designer Sergej Kuckir has designed a useful and innovative device that can help the hearing impaired in emergency situations. The device looks a bit like an egg, and has a built-in vibration feature, as well as light signals to inform the user of serious situations. When everything is peaceful and honky dory, the device can double up as an alarm clock, which plus happens to be your charging cradle. Should that be turned into a real device?

Nobody likes to take in the alarm clock ring in the dawn, and whether you’d rather be woken up in a more natural way, you’d want to check out the updated version of the Verilux Rise & Shine Natural Sleep System. The previous version looked a lot like an ugly table lamp, but that model looks squarer. When you’re nodding off to sleep, you can set it to play some soothing sounds, and slowly dim the light as you go off to sleep. It sports an FM tuner, auxiliary port for your MP3 player, as well as decent memory to store about 800MP3s. You can additionally do the reverse, which increases the sound gradually, while additionally increasing the brightness, obviously an effort to help you wake up. whether you think the built-in lamp isn’t bright adequate, the option to add in an auxiliary lamp will certainly come in handy.

Have trouble waking up in the mornings? The Alien Hunter Alarm Clock might just help you get out of bed a little bit faster whether you have a penchant for playing, since it will require you to shoot it dead as it emerges from the egg in order to stop its incessant ringing. Guess using that would mean the folks at Area 51 monitoring your home every restricted day with each “invasion” ending up with humans being the victor.
