Think your input is very urgent but can’t afford to do offsite backups? Well, ioSafe’s Squadron line of catastrophe proof hard drives aim to help you keep your hard drive safe from some of the dangers out there. First off it’s fireproof up to 1400° F for up to 15 minutes and sports a heat shield that can deflect by 98% of the radiant heat from a fire. It can plus survive being submerged under 5 feet of water for up to 24 hours. The good thing about that model is that instead of being incredibly bulky as most rugged drives are, the Squadron drive can actually be installed in a standard drive bay on your desktop PC. It’s slightly pricey at $310 for 320GB, but considering all the additional safety features you get, it’s worth the price, right? The ioSafe Squadron starts to ship on May 17th.

The M003 Apad you see here is additionally known as the iRobot, albeit it runs off the Android operating system (version unknown). Bearing a 7″ TFT display at 800 x 480 resolution, the iRobot comes with Google Maps support, HD video compatibility, a built-in webcam, 2GB/4GB of internal memory and an SD memory card slot. It retails for $199.99, and thanks to integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, you won’t need to look out for a mobile carrier to subscribe to for a mobile documents plan.

MSI wants to ensure that they have all grounds covered with news of releasing both Android as well as Windows 7 powered tablets in Computex, Taiwan later that June. Regardless of the model or operating system, pricing is set to being “extremely aggressive” – which more often than not translates to a whole lot of bang for our ever depreciating buck. Available in 8.9″ and 10″ models, these tablets will ship sometime in Q3 later that year. What do you think – will you aim for an Android device or shoot for Microsoft instead?

Taking your medicine can be quite a challenge for some folks, particularly whether it is on a faraway term basis. Well, University of Florida researchers have come up with a new method – an ingestible pill capsule that contains a tiny microchip and antenna which will heads up doctors or family members each instance a pill is taken, so miss a dose at your own peril. that pill is currently in a prototype mold, but both researchers and clinicians (and not patients, we presume!) will aim to see it end up as an actual smart pill sometime down the road. Hopefully all the added mechanisms and circuitry within won’t add too much to the final price point, since medicine and healthcare alone is already expensive as they are already. Imagine walking up to the medicine counter the next date round – “Will it be the tattle-tale pill, or the silent version, sir/ma’am?”

If you happen to own either a Nokia N97 (read our review) and Nokia N97 mini (or both, although we have no inkling why you should be in that position in the first place), thereupon you might want to check out the latest development called Nokia Bots. These are add-ons which run on the homescreen, and is the outcome of the folks at Nokia Beta Labs, with the aim of improving the user experience in your everyday N97/N97 mini usage. Currently, only a quartet of Nokia Bots are available, and they are Alarm Bot, Profile Bot, Shortcut Bot and Battery Bot. No concept on whether these Bots will prepare their way to regular Nokia handsets or not, but that is an interesting start.

While there still isn’t any official confirmation on how the device will work, details of the upcoming Google set top box have apparently started to surface on the World Wide Web. Word going around is that it will be built by Sony and Intel, be powered by Google’s Android OS, as well as use Chrome as a browser. Aside from that, it seems that that box will not aim to replace your current set top box, rather it will integrate alongside it, effectively daisy-chaining your current set to box, to Google’s box, and additionally to your TV. With that in place, Google’s box will gather goods from your current set top box, and offer its composition to you in an entirely new user interface, and will additionally offer searching and browsing channels, as well as other web-centric subject matter. Would you like to have another Google device in your home, or do you think that Google is beginning to take by the world (more than it already has)?

We don’t mean load on your wallet, but that new kind of LCD technology by researchers by at Japanese chemical company Teijin and Yamaguchi University have touted that they managed to develop a new way which helps lighten the weight of LCD TVs by up to half compared to what they weigh today. that is made possible thanks to a thin layer of heat-resistant silicon dioxide on plastic, and since plastic is lighter than glass substrates, that is where the weight savings go. Hopefully their aim of commercializing such technology will come true within three years’ moment as intended.

Amen Design Company, the brains behind that mean pair of wheels aim to introduce a new mojo among motorcyclists, but rest assured that their efforts are expensive to replicate, and will most definitely be considered as expensive even.
Apart from jumping aboard the Windows Phone 7 Series platform, Samsung additionally has its eyes set on the slate bandwagon, with Emmanuele Silanesu, national product and marketing manager for Samsung Australia’s IT division, letting it out that Samsung would release its slate “in the second half of the year”, where the device will squarely take aim at the consumer market. We can only keep our fingers crossed in anticipation that Samsung’s slate device will prove to be a worthy competitor to the scene.
