Apple files patent to address heat issues
March 5, 2010
While we don't know how many patents does Apple own, we do know that the company recently showed off a quartet of new patent applications that week which were filed a couple of years ago which aim to address issues concerning ability consumption and heat generation. In the patent application, it reads, "Heat dissipation is an crucial consideration in the design of such electronic devices. whether that heat is not adequately dissipated, the electronic components may fail and/or cause damage to the electronic device." While Apple products have not been known to overheat, it is good to see the fruity company do its part to keep things running cool and efficiently.

Raidon HyBrid Disk
February 26, 2010

Raidon's HyBrid Disk tells it as it is - that storage device will hold both a solid-state drive (SSD) and a hard drive in a separate chassis, where its ultimate aim would be to replace 3.5" hard drive mechanisms. that is made possible with users reading and writing files to the SSD while the hard drive mirrors the SSD contents at scheduled intervals, helping create a backup of all your notes constantly. Raidon claims that both the SSD and the hard drive are not set up in a true RAID 1 configuration, so in the event where your SSD fails, you can always recover the most recent backup from the hard drive in a jiffy. Since the SSD can be removed sans the HyBrid Disk mechanism, it allows you to place it into another drive or hook it up to a computer internally. There is no word on the total storage capacities offered, and neither do we have an inkling of its price but we know for certain they will roll out later that April.

February 25, 2010

Alaska Airlines goes one up on its rivals in the near future, allowing you to enjoy Wi-Fi connectivity aboard all their flights, regardless of the bird which you're assigned to. that is made possible thanks to their collaboration with Aircell’s Gogo service aboard all aircraft. Currently, both parties are working hard to install the service on a Boeing 737-800 followed by rigorous examining that has the ultimate aim of receiving an approval and certification from the FAA. There will be a base price of $4.95 for the Wi-Fi service once available, and that too depends on the length of the flight and the device which you're going to hook up with.

Ping-pong ball shooting robot
December 23, 2009
Forget about whoopee cushions - that ceiling-mounted, ping-pong-ball-firing robot is one of the geekier and better office pranks out there. Constructed by the CKBot group at UPenn's Modlab, it will remain hidden in the ceiling above the cubicle of your choice, and once unleashed remotely, it will let loose a flurry of ping pong balls on its victim. We wonder just how good the aim of that is, and it will take a considerable amount of duration to "reload" that puppy once it has surprised its victim.
