Is The Red Dot On The iPad Advert A Camera?

Despite the Apple site not mentioning anything about a built-in camera for the iPad, the camera rumors (and conspiracy theories) just won’t seem to die off. Now some folks have noticed that there is a tiny red dot in the latest iPad advertisement, at the 2-3 second period when the user fiddles with the iBooks app, you’ll notice that there is a tiny faint red dot at the top of the iPad. Of course, that’s far from a confirmation of a camera, and some folks are speculating that it’s an ambient light sensor. What do you think? Of course, whether it were an ambient light sensor, which could be what has been crammed into the mysterious slot in the iPad’s bezel, soon after where would they put the camera in the future? In the end, the main question is: who in the world would be looking that closely at the ad in order to notice such a tiny detail? Video after the jump.

Amazon Relents On Macmillan Price Dispute

Are you satisfied with the $9.99 price point of eBooks on Amazon’s Kindle, or do you think that publishers should be allowed to price the books higher? Every consumer wants to get the best deal, us included, unfortunately it seems that Macmillan are in the midst of a little dispute with Amazon at the moment, as Macmillan wants to offer some eBooks at $12.99 to $14.99, but Amazon would like to keep it at $9.99. When you look at the upcoming competition, such as the Barnes & Noble Nook, Apple iPad, it’s understandable that Amazon will want to keep the price appealing, though it will plus need to prepare certain it doesn’t hurt the publishers too. Unfortunately Amazon has stopped directly selling Macmillan titles, which is certainly a aftereffect of the dispute.

As a aftereffect, Macmillan CEO, took out a paid advertisement in Publishers Marketplace to voice out on the issue. Whether it was directly related to the ad he put out or not, Amazon seems to have relented, and will give in the Macmillan, allowing it to sell eBooks at a higher price, even though it considers the price too high. Do you think that Amazon should be the one to control the pricing of these eBooks, or should consumers be the ones to give feedback (via their wallets) on that issue?

iSlate Advertisement Video?

January 27, 2010

At that point, it’s getting really hard to sift through what’s real and what’s fake. We did come across that “iSlate advertisement”, which does seem rather cool. The video seems nice and clean, though whether it’s real, it certain seems to indicate that our fingers are going to be doing a lot of dancing on the Apple tablet (dubbed iSlate in that video). Anyways, fake or real, it seems like a little bit of casual fun before we hit the nitty gritty of the upcoming event, so stay tuned!

Can Your Motorola Droid Do That?

While the folks by at Verizon probably enjoyed poking fun at the iPhone and AT&T’s network with its “Droid Does” campaign. AT&T certainly wasn’t too happy about those, evidenced by the lawsuit fired in Verizon’s direction. Now the latest ads emphasize that the Motorola Droid on Verizon Wireless can’t manufacture use of its input connection and maintain a voice signal at the same moment. With the advertisements showing the user performing a variety of tasks such as browsing the Net, sending an mail amongst others, while still maintaining the shout.
