Just ahead of the first Formula 1 Grand Prix season 2010 Acer has updated its Ferrari One netbook. Perfect timing, perfect badge on the hood. Updates, however, are not what you’d shout Ferrariish or even Acer Aspire Oneish. Recently we covered announcement of Aspire One AO 532-h and we liked it. Obviously, considering of the sponsorship particularities, Ferrari netbooks must have an AMD processor, so upgrading to Intel Atom N450 is no the case. But all the rest could and should be revamped. I’m afraid latest FO200-15 has only had its HDD replaced with an 500GB unit and that’s it. Available in a week in Japan for price equivalent to $800.

Despite Intel’s Atom processor enjoying much of the success in the netbook market, let’s not forget that AMD is plus still in the game, and word is going around the Acer is gearing up to launch a new 10.1-inch netbook that uses AMD’s 1.2GHz V105 individual core processor. It’s still not official yet, but the AMD-powered Aspire One 521 will reportedly be using an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4225 graphics chip, paired with the AMD M880G chipset, hinting at the possibility of that netbook being able to handle HD video playback. The netbook should plus offer optional Bluetooth 3 support, a compact charger and a battery that should be able to last up to 7-hours (depending on usage, of course). There isn’t any word on when the Acer Aspire One 521 will be launched, or at what price point, but we’ll keep an eye on that.

We brought your attention to the dual-booting Acer Aspire One D260 a few weeks back, and now a video showing the notebook in action has surfaced. As you probably already know, the D260 will be able to dual boot both Android and Windows, unfortunately Android wasn’t shown in the video (not that it’s not capable of doing so). Thanks to the latest data, we know that the D260 will be powered by an Intel Atom N450 processor and 1GB of RAM. There still isn’t any official launch duration for the Acer Aspire One D260, but hopefully it isn’t too far off. Video after the break.

Apart from those additions, everything else would remain the same as a vanilla Aspire One 532 as it will ship with an Intel Atom N450 processor, 1GB RAM, a 250GB hard drive, a 6-cell 4,400mAh battery and Windows 7 Starter as the operating system of choice.
Acer decided to enhance their Aspire line of notebooks by reworking it under the Aspire Ethos grade which sports a minimalist, metallic look with an edge-to-edge chiclet keyboard and matching display glass. You won’t find it lost in terms of features though as it still comes with a 5.1-channel speaker system which is well hidden in a subtler, thinner shape. There will be two initial models from the line that sports Core i3, i5 or i7 processors, depending on the configuration that both you and your wallet can agree with. In terms of graphics, that won’t fall short since it has ATI’s Mobility Radeon HD 5000 series to supply adequate graphical muscle. No view on pricing or availability as at press date though – bummer!
