LG T280 unveiled

LG's latest thin and light computing device would be the T280, where that 11.6" netbook comes with 1,366 x 768 resolution powered by an Intel CULV processor - where you can choose from either a 1.3GHz Pentium SU4100 dual core CPU or a slightly beefier 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor. Apart from that, all your graphical needs are provided by an integrated Intel GMA 4500MHD graphics chipset, accompanied by 2GB RAM, a 500GB hard drive and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity. You can additionally let the T280 "talk" to other devices via HDMI and VGA outputs, with Windows 7 Home Premium as the operating system of choice. It is currently priced at around $1,000 in Korea after conversion without a beep on an impending US release.

We were wondering when the HP Mini 5102 at a much more pocket-friendly price would be announced when covering the $749 business model, and here it is - the $399 variant that offers a whole lot of value for that amount of cash. How does an Intel Atom N450 1.66GHz processor, a 10.1" 1,024 x 600 resolution display, 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, Wi-Fi N connectivity, Bluetooth support and Windows 7 Startder Edition sound to you? Fork out $525 and you will get double the RAM alongside a choice amidst Windows 7 Professional and Windows XP Professional. As for the $649 variant, that one ought to last you a fair bit on the road with its 6-cell battery, 2GB RAM, Windows 7 or Windows XP Professional and a Gobi mobile broadband module.

Averatec All-in-One PCs announced

Trigem Japan has lifted the curtain on a couple of its new All-in-One Averatec computers - the nigh-unpronounceable AVA8325E7BD that is equipped with an integrated Blu-ray ROM combo drive, while the AVA8325E7SM skips Blu-ray by sticking with a more conventional DVD super multi-drive. The former will come with 3GB RAM and a 320GB hard drive, while the latter has a lesser 2GB RAM and 250GB hard drive to get you started. Right out of the box, you will find that both models feature an 18.4" widescreen LCD display at 1,680 x 945 resolution running on Windows 7 Home Premium and AMD's Athlon X2 3250e 1.5GHz dual-core processor. Seems like pretty beefy machines to us, let us hope that the price is right as well.

Which name would you prefer - that of the Greek god love, or something less supernatural like Wing? Well, you know what the Bard said - a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet, and the same goes for the Eros tablet aka Wing. Powered by an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, the Eros tablet will come with a 10" touchscreen display at two resolutions - 1,024 × 576 or 1,366 × 768, 1GB/2GB RAM and 160GB/320GB ROM, depending on the configuration of your choice. Shared specifications plus include a couple of USB 2.0 ports, an SD memory card slot, handwriting recognition and Windows XP running in the background although those who want to be more up to date can always settle for Windows 7. Battery life is a downer though, with it running for 2.5 hours on Windows XP and a paltry 1.5 hours on Windows 7. No word on pricing, but it retails for the equivalent of $441 in China. We'd skip that due to the poor battery life, even whether it goes for dirt cheap.

Microsoft Gives Away Acer Tablet PC

Folks who attended Microsoft’s PDC09 (Professional Developers Conference) should be rather happy, as Steven Sinofsky, Windows and Windows Live Division President, announced that all of the PDC09 attendees will be receiving a free Acer Aspire 1420P Convertible Tablet PC. The free tablet was supposedly to show Microsoft’s gratitude towards all of the PDC attendees and the support that the developers gave Microsoft during the Windows 7 release. In case you were wondering, the features of said laptop include:
- Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit edition
- Intel Celeron 1.2GHz
- 2GB RAM
- Intel graphics
- 3G mobile broadband
