[CES 2010] Despite launching more than one hundred phones per year, Samsung was short of “fame” in 2009. Apple, HTC, Nokia (N900) and even Motorola (Droid) stole the show in 2009. The Samsung Moment addresses a market (mobile TV) that has had limited success worldwide, and nearly no success in western countries. The new approach is sounder: instead of trying to have carriers broadcast poor video quality by 3G networks, the Moment allows users to receive mobile DTV for free and free is good. Now the question is: are you really dying to get free mobile TV? Is that going to be a big commercial advantage for the Samsung Moment? We’re inclined to say “no”, but who knows?
