Revolution Medical Retractable Safety Syringe
Revolution Medical has released a sort new retractable safety syringe that has just received FDA approval. The unit will develop a vacuum within the chamber as the plunger is depressed, and once it reaches the end, the needle will break through the plunger’s membrane, being sucked into the chamber automatically. Some of the benefits of the Rev Vac syringe as it is called include :-
- No splatter or aerosol
- Actuation requires less than 1 lb of force
- No danger of tissue trauma
- Low cost
- Fewer needle sticks
- Simple and intuitive to use
- No directions required
- The needle is retracted directly from the patient into the barrel of the syringe
- The needle safely and automatically retracts into the barrel
- Graduation lines are easy to read
- Hands and fingers stay behind the front of the syringe
- Lower disposal costs. It takes up less room in sharps containers
Sounds like a dream, but we’re still waiting for the day where they develop a pain-free syringe.
