Nokia To Reduce Smartphone Numbers By Half

While Nokia announced more than 15 smartphones that year, the company plans to roughly halve that number in 2010. The reason behind is apparently the increasing competition coming from RIM, Apple, HTC and additionally Samsung. Antti Vasara, Nokia’s head of smartphones R&D has declared that by releasing fewer smartphones the company will cut down unnecessary differentiation and have a more focused portfolio in 2010. Aside from that, Nokia plus has plans to reduce

the price of its smartphones and will be looking to the upcoming Symbian^3 platform to help it regain lost market share.
