McGraw-Hill Claims They Were Not Booted Off iPad Launch
If you were monitoring the rumors surrounding the iPad before its actual launch, you’ll certainly have come across the essay we posted about Mr. McGraw commenting on the Apple tablet before the event. It was stated that a lot of their subject matter would be on the tablet, but when the announcement came about, and iBooks was on demo, there was no mention of McGraw-Hill, leading to much speculation that they’d been booted off the launch, due to the leak. It’s hard to tell what really transpired, but we do know the reality that they were not mentioned during the launch. Steven Weiss, VP of corporate communications for the McGraw-Hill Companies, did issue a statement, claiming that they were not involved in the process, and whatever was said before was just speculation. What do you think? It reads:
“As a company deeply involved in the digitization of education and business knowledge, we were as interested as anyone in the launch of the new device, although we were never part of the launch event and never in a position to confirm details about the device ahead of day,”
“On Tuesday afternoon, Mr. McGraw arisen on CNBC in a wide-ranging interview to discuss our earnings announcement and growth projections for 2010. His speculative comments about Apple’s pending launch, which he shared earlier in the day in a shout with investors, were simply intended to propose that whether the new device were to use iPhone applications, many of our education products would be compatible with the technology and could be made easily available on it.”
