Broadcom BCM2763 mobile media chip

Broadcom's latest mobile media chip, the BCM2763, is the first from the company to be able to handle 1080p video playback on something as small as a portable media player or smartphone, alongside the ability to record full HD video - now how about that for progress? Interestingly abundant, we think the playback feature is a bit overrated as you won't gain much from such a tiny display, and to pack in a full HD projector into such a small device might be asking for too much. The chip itself is plus able to handle up to a 20-megapixel shot, coupled with features including

image stabilization, face or smile detection, panorama auto-stitching and continual shooting. Regardless of its high powered capabilities, it won't consume more potential thanks to the BCM2763's 40 nanometer manufacturing process. Full production devices are tipped to hit retail stores sometime in 2011, so it is still a towering way off in coming.
