Bang & Olufsen Announces BeoSound 5

Bang & Olufsen has just announced that it will be rolling out its BeoSound 5 digital music system sometime in March next year, and as with most Bang & Olufsen systems, you can be certain that it will not come up short design-wise, while performance ought to be above average at the very least. We like what we see so far, including the main interface which consists of the BeoSound 5 controller – a 2.65kg table-top or wall-mounted remote that has an outstanding 10.4″ 1,024 x 768 resolution LCD display with an aluminium scroll wheel. The music server itself is the BeoControl 5, and it can hold up to 500GB worth of music while remaining connected to the Net.
Other features of the BeoSound 5 include :-
- MOTS (More Of The Same) intelligent playlist system
- B&O MasterLink connectivity
- IR input
- Analog line-out
- S/PDIF output
- HDMI, DVI-I, DVI-D (for the controller), YPbPr, S-Video, Composite video
- Three USB 2.0 ports
- Ethernet connectivity
Be prepared to cough up $5,377 for that beast as it arrives next March.
